There are no cures for worn hubs that are fool proof, you can try Loctite 609 or 635 that might work for this, the bearings have stamped tin parts on the outer and inner bearings to keep grease from migrating away from bearings, part number 60288D & 60289D, also we used to add 43828D felt washers next to seals to help keep mud and water out of wheels in severe service, it sounds like the old girl has had some use since it was built if the hub style doesnt match. This was a common problem on them, no one ever overlubed their bearings.
