Randy: I never like using an implement for a counter weight, doing loader work. too much danger of backing it into something. A counter though is far better for loader work than wheel weights. Best weight I've ever seen like Jal said barrel of concrete designed to fit your hitch. I used complete 55 gal drums, take the top out, punch holes and put pins in for your hitch, weld it together with rebar. Then pour it full of concrete. A 300 just works great with a full barrel of concrete. Don't worry about too much weight as it doesn't weigh as much as a backhoe. I found with a full barrel of concrete, much easier on front end as you are actually taking weight off front axle.
