Kevin : Chris has the best long term solution. If you want to take the time the photo gallery has some decent photos of SA, 100, 130 and 140 with front and rear cultivators mounted. Also a few in photo adds in past two weeks. You may see some differences from what you have as there were many variations in these units depending what they were using them for. Basically the same 144 cultivator was used on all 4 tractors. The unit on the A was different.

If you wanted you could e mail me as I have some shots of my tractors, only thing is I have made so many modifications over the years it probably would confuse more than help. I have converted my cultivators to all modern ground working tools, S tines, V hoes, and yes even no till equipment. I now till my garden up in fall and make hills or rows. A nice crop of weeds come in fall and frost gets them. In spring I very slightly till tops of hill or rows with no till coulters and plant. Since I don't disturb soil in spring my weed seeds near enough surface have all germinated in fall. If you are far enough south you may need a bit of Roundup to do what frost does for me.

These days most of my spring tillage is being done on next years garden which I plant in buckwheat to plow down end of Aug before it goes to seed. This system has not completely eliminated hand weeding, but it sure has cut down on the need for it. The only in row cultivation I have done this year is on potatoes and I have some very sharp sweeps that I just skim the surface between rows for emerging weeds, I don't disturb soil just shear weeds at surface.

Today's Featured Article - A Farmall Story - by Ed Meadors. The year was 1978. Our young family had recently moved to rural Chesapeake, Virginia to a plot of land which would finally allow us to realize our dreams of a huge garden, critters and more lawn and pasture than we would ever use! We needed a TRACTOR; not a riding mower or tractor wannabe, but a real TRACTOR. The answer to our needs materialized in the form of a '44 Farmall A, complete with cultivators, discs, single plow, a 5ft.Woods belly mower and one, mounted spare 9.00x24 rear wheel. ...
