Back in the mid to late 40's, several farmers on our road worked to geather , when time was important....Farmall H's & M's....JD A's & a G....Oliver 77 & 88....All gas....I would say all around the Farmall M was the work horse at days end of drawbar & belt jobs..the M's seemed to have the edge over the JD A's and the Oliver 88's.....the M would in some situations out work the JD G....That is what we saw working the same jobs, in the same fields....the JD's were not good on a long flat belt....the belt would get to flaping and slaping, when they were pulling hard...the 88 oliver and the Farmall M was better on the belt...one M had the RPM turned up a little...that made a difference.....hope this helps......Don
