300U hot hydraulics/power steering question

Would a blockage or improperly working power steering valve/box cause the hydraulics on my 300U to get hot? The hydraulics on my 300U get very hot when the tractor is run for a couple of hours, such as when mowing trails (long, straight driving). There is also a buzz/hum that seems to be coming from the area of the power steering gear. I've been through most of the hydraulic system (pump resealed, cleaned and resealed valve and flow control valve) except for the power steering valve/box. The steering gear has some slop in it--I've tried to adjust as much of it out as I can--would this cause the power steering valve to work too much? Any easy fixes to clear a blockage in the steering system? Thanks for the help.
