Yes you can take out this seal. Drill a small hole in the seal and screw in a sheetmetal screw, and use a pair of pliers to pry the old seal out. You can drain about five gallons of oil out, or drive the front end into a ditch so the oil moves to the front of the transmission. The 1000rpm shaft seal is the easy one to change, the 540rpm seal has to be replaced by taking the pto unit out of the tractor, and tearing it apart.I hope this helps. Chris
