If that tractor has a generator then you need to repolazie it so it charges the battery for you.
If not it will not charge. by polarizing it, it tell the current which way to flow.
Have you tried to hook it up negative ground to see if it charges? if so put it positive ground and polarize the generator. What does your amp metter say when it is running???
