sounds like the voltage regulator, but maybe not a big problem. what is the charge rate?? Just for instance, the generator might charge at 8-10 amps after startup. After running for 30 minutes it might drop to 3-5 amps. Thats not too bad. Dont expect it to drop in a few minutes. Also most regulators are temp sensitive. As they warm up (30-45 minutes) things will change. In general, dont worry as long as it is charging. Once you start to use it chekc after an hour and see what the regulator is doing. Unless you are getting excess like 15-20 amps after 30 minutes, i would not worry. Make sure the battery is good and full charge before you pick on the regulator.
