The standard F-20 shaft will have the little extension on it. With my iron box for my F-20, it came with the extension adaptor which fits over the little splined end. You will need some sort of hollow adaptor that fits the splined end and mates up with the inside of the sliding gear. My aluminum cased unit does not have this since it is for the Regular where the entire shaft gets replaced. Maybe you could find or make an extended Regular-type shaft which fits the gear. I can take photos of what I have to show you if that would help. I am just about to install my iron box so now is the time to take photos.
