Clancy: The pitman mower had pitman shaft on left and pitman rod was in most cases wood with steel ends went across to heel of mower. Drive belt on the pitman mower was short. IH mowers had the pulley on shaft from pto right above the pitman drive pulley The balanced head mowers had a wobble gear box at heel of mower bar and the belt drive went right to that gear box. Pullies on those units were probably 3-3.5 feet apart
