300U carb

Have a 300utility that generally runs good. However on occasion in order to get it to run smooth, some choke has to be applied.Then things will change and the choke has to be off for smooth running. Now, can't get it to run smooth at all . I plan to take the carb off and was wondering what to look for in terms of areas to clean,etc. It is a 1 1/4" updraft carb. THanks
