I diagree to a point. I know a guy with a 60 cow dary herd. Within 20 miles of him there are probably 4-5, 400 plus cow herds. The 60 cow guy is getting the highest return on investment in 3 counties that in area takes in all the 400 cow herds. My old rule of thumb, less than 1/2 hp of total tractor power per acre on that farm. There is too much hp on farms across America to make money. All one has to do is read forums and classifieds. There shouldn't be a 1066, 1466, 1086 or 1486 in North America with less than 25,000 hours on them. I had an uncle in the 1950s farmed a 100 acres with a Super A. I supose that old pan seat caused his posterior to ache more than once over the years.
