Miranda: There is on exception to what the prvious poster told you, after 1955 all Farmalls large and small had the serial number moved to the clutch housing. Left side on most of them. One other item you may find useful is at the top of the page you will see right under the words Yesterday's Tractors, a list of all makes of tractors, click on Farmall IH then click on Farmall Photo Gallery. From there you can pick from about 800 pictures of Farmall and IH tractors. You find one that is either close or may be the exact tractor your father has. From what you see come back with your thoughts and you tell us what you have. Just set your dad in front of computer, show him how to click from one tractor photo to the next. He will be out of everyone's hair for at least 4 hours, and when he is done, he will declare the model of his tractor.
