It is easy to look back and say which one is the choice now but...My grandfather had both colors along with the "other red". He and I as a kid liked the red, but my father had a bad back from an accident and needed to stand to use the hand clutch when any tractor for much time. Also factoring in was the more natural position of standing when they were used to Old Dewey and Pet. probably the real reason why so many "colors" kept a hand clutch. Just less flies than watching the south end of the horse.
