The 530 is the largest diesel built by International. As Bob said, it's been used in many a fire and rescue truck. I've also seen it used in school buses and box trucks. You might want to check the coolant to make sure it has the water conditioner in it - the water conditioner prevents sleeve cavitation. I believe you can get a test kit at an International dealer. Can't comment on the Allison automatic.

International is by far the sales leader in medium-duty trucks(with nearly half the market), and has been for years.
