Top try-cock since that is the upper level oil text cock were oil should be to operate, bottom or lower oil level test cock is I beleive quart low maybe two. It is said that the oil should be drained down to the lower test cock every ten hours an new oil put in before operating equipment. There may be a few people who follow this but I sure haven't, I use them both to check oil level daily when I'm operating one of mt tractors but have never drained it down like service manuel states for my F20 :o) just my two cents, hope it helps
