I dont know whether I qualify as a property owner as I only have 10 acres. But my opinion is that if someone wants to walk through the property I dont have a problem with that but anything else I would expect the person to come and ask! Any rural area has the same problem with law enforcement, not being readily available so as Hugh has said your neighbors can help!
