The steering shaft on a C goes down the left hand side. The serial number on the cub is on a plate near where the steering column goes into the steering gear. For an A or B, if you can't find the serial number plate look on the block underneath the #1 spark plug. There is a flat spot with a serial number on it. This is probably different to the number on the plate. Hope this helps. SAm in NS
