Pull the timing cover off the clutch housing and turn the engine over till the timing marks come up then pull the little cover with 2 screws off the pump you should see 2 disks the one to the rear of the pump does not rotate the front one does and each should have a black line on it, if you do not see line on the front one rotate engine 180 degrees and you should be on #1. I don't remember at what degree it should be set at, I am thinking 6 Befor TDC. But check to be sure.
