1 PT sickle mower connection help

I recently bought a one point sickle mower for my 140. This sickle mower runs off of the PTO and obviously attaches to the one point hitch. The problem that I am having is that there is another stabilizing connection that is a piece of steel with a "c" cut into it that is supposed to help support the unit. The stabilizing arm is parallel to the one point male piece but is about 4 inches out to the left of the hitching mechanism. It looks like there should be some sort of extension that needs to be added to the hitch on the tractor. Anyone seen one of these animals? It was made by IH.
