The planetary free wheels because there is a ram that stops the TA from turning backward when in the TA or low side if not for the ram and roller it would not move in TA. When they free wheel down hill the TA turns as many times faster as the same percent as the gears lows down speed when driven by the engine, so if one free wheels down hill in first gear the RPM of the TA is much faster that in 5th gear can you see what I am saying now the rear wheels are doing the driving and gears don't lie so if 1500 engine RMP is say 2 mile and hour forward and now the wheels are driving the RPM increase is great, now if you have a big load like a corn picker and 100 bushels of corn gong down hill pushing hard and you pull the TA lever back that increase is right now, and let put just one more spin on the RPM change it is backward so you have a 7" clutch turning say 1700 RPM because of the load and now many times faster the other direction,(boom) out through the top of the TA. I saw this back in the 560 days. No thr Hyd TA no planetary just clutchs
