The issue is not a mold but rather a bacteria, and the question centers largely on the fuels relative exposure to light. I have had deisel stored for in excess of 5 years without any problem whatsoever in several underground tanks. I can just hear people claiming on how their tractors are in a shed with a gas cap on the tank and they have had problems. Trust me, keep your main tanks well away from the light and don't rely on fuel stored in the tank of your tractor to run it after a period of months and you will have no problem.
