Ted: In that era there were two Independant PTO. The early one was kind of square at back of casting, probably 12" both ways. That one had a small breather on top and a metal cover about 3" long 1" wide, under this cover were screws for adjustment of the unit. That one you filled as EJ says. Those units were used first on the MTA, then 300, 400, 350, 450 and in early production of 340, 460 and 560. The later unit was round at back, actually smaller in appearence. It had a fill hole on top about 1.5" in diameter. Adjustment of this PTO unit was done by use of a special tool through the fill hole. The PTO brake was adjusted by linkage on engage lever. You can interchange these units from any of the tractors above. Does your manual cover the unit you have, if not you should have it. Adjustments of clutches and brakes on these units are quite crucial in enhancing life of working parts
