your are on the right track. slide the drum off,you may not need a puller.the seal is behind the drum.try running a sheetmetal into the seal and pull it like pulling a nail.you may have to tear the seal into pieces to get it out.Do NOT REMOVE THE COVER PLATE THAT HOLDS THE SEAL UNLESS YOU ARE REPLACING THE BEARING. THIS COVER IS SHIMMED TO SET THE TOOTH PATTERN FOR THE RING GEAR.
