H-starter switch location

Sometime between the '41 and '43 H, International Harvester moved the starter switch from the gas tank support bracket to the steering post. I have a '42, serial # 100xxx that still has the switch on the gas tank support bracket but is offset to the right whereby you can put your foot behind the steering post and step on it. It does not have the rod through the steering post nor does it have a hole for it. How long did IH have this starter switch mounting.
