350 Diesel ???

I just got my 350 Diesel back together afer new rings and bearings when i went to start it it wouldnt quite go on its own so we hooked on to it and pulled it no more than 10 feet in fourth gear and it fired right up. i ran it for a while shut it down and after a few it fired right up again i chained her up and used it to gather sap when i got to sugar house i shut it off and it was maybe an hour or so when i went to move it, it wouldnt start i rolled it down the hill with in 2 revolutions of the tire she was running and suggestions as to what may be the problem sorry for being long winded thanx
