Usually if the starter doesn't catch it isn't the ring gear unless the ring gear has teeth missing. If you do need to replace the ring gear you will have to split the tractor to remove the flywheel. Then you can remove the ring gear from the flywheel by heating it or cutting it off. The new ring gear is then installed by heating and shrinking it on the flywheel. They are available at tractor parts stores or Case IH. Roger
