5th Gear on my IH 504 Utility

My 1964 IH 504 utility has a real hard time pulling into 5th gear. Of course the only time I use it is when I drive down the road to the neighbors to help him out. 4th gear runs just fine but when I go to 5th the engine drags and doesn't get up to speed. I have tried to slip the clutch real slow to let the engine rev up. If I am going downhill it gets up to speed after a while but on flat land I just end up dropping it back to 4th. Other than that the engine and tractor is real strong. Something I can do or is it something I should be concerned about? Like I said I don't use 5th much but it would get me to the neighbors a little faster! Thank you!
