Cub wont start

Im pretty positive Ive got carb trouble, and Im goin to get a kit and go thru it, but, tell me why, when I pusj IN the clutch it would cough up, sputter and die. Seems like it would be the other way around. If u wait a bit it will start, and sound fairly good, but has no power, and if you poush in the clutch, itall start to bog down. If you release it quike enough you might save it, and then itall either run and miss, and maybe clear itself out, or die

Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
