only a few rules. ---big wire from rear of alternator to amp meter ---big wire from ampmeter to the battery + sid ---#2 terminal is always hot, jump it to the rear terminal on the alternator --#1 terminal is hot when running, and disconnect when motor is off. connect it to a switch or key. --#1 terminal wire needs a resistor to drop the voltage slightly and "TELL" the internal regulator to start charging. --you can use a light bulb in place of the resistor if you want. i use a 10 ohm, 10 watt resistor- get at radio shack for $1. --a volt meter is not a amp meter. the ampmeter is spliced into the big wire from alternator to the battery. --a volt meter is connected "ACROSS" the battery or alternator terminals, not "IN LINE". if you have a volt meter, take it out and run the alternator straight to the battery. --i will send you another simple diagram.
