Ron - Suspect your regulator is bad!

When you turn on the lights with the engine stopped, does the ammeter show a moderate discharge - 5 to 10 amps - and the lights burn steady? If yes, your light switch and wiring are OK.

Try leaving the tractor overnite with the wire disconnected from the regulator "BAT" terminal (tape the wire end for safety...) If the battery stays up, it says the regulator is draining the battery. Best solution then is to replace the regulator.

And yes, the regulator "L" terminal (which feeds the lights fuse) is electrically hot whenever the battery is connected - this is normal! ...Bob M
