I plant my Silver Queen corn rows 36" apart. I tried for 10 years to grow my sweet corn the organic way that continously resulted in poor stands. I discovered that my growing area needs a starter fertilizer to be used when planting. I'm still looking for ways to keep the crows and black birds from pulling out the corn right when it starts spiking through the ground. They can clear out huge areas in a couple weeks. The crows in my area will attack the corn for the seed up until even 8" tall. An even bigger problem is the Racoons and deer attacking the ears just as it's ready to pick. Thanks Ray in Pa.
