In my experience with synthetic oils, they reduce friction considerably. In using this type of oil in my air cooled engines, the operating temperature dropped. This is a good thing. In automotive engines, I believe it is worth it. I do agree that keeping oil changed with a good oil & air filter is necessary with any type of engine oil. You also need an efficient crankcase breather filter. I don't run it in my tractor because it isn't broke-in yet. I also use synthetic grease. I have used this in industrial applications where high temperatures & extreme pressure are common. Anywho, that's just my opinion.
