Ted: Welcome to the wonderful world of Farmall ownership! While others wiser than I can tackle the serial number issues, I'll hit the wiring. Rewiring an A is pretty simple--this ain't no Corvette. If you have wire already, it's an hour or two job to cut, crimp, and tape your way to a brand new set of wires. If not, a full harness will run from $30 to $75, with the main difference being the level of authenticity (coverings, etc.) that you want. There are a couple of excellent articles on the right sidebar of this website on rewiring the entire tractor, and Bob M. has proven himself a friend in need to many people here with questions. Keep us posted on progress!
