Bon-ami in intake?

I friend has a 460 diesel with a roosamaster pump. He has a book but is unable to find a bleed port on the pump. Is there one?
It appears (we haven't checked it yet, but will) to have low compression. Years and years ago, in another life I seem to remember hearing about using a 'very' small amount of bon-ami in the intake. I know nothing beats an actual overhaul, which we will do this summer. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this or if my fertile memory has gone South.
