Roger: As Bill B said, location plays a big part here, but Cubs are one of the most collectible of tractors, and are thus priced higher than many (if not most) larger tractors of similar vintage. I paid $2300 for my '58 cub with new tires, new paint and a 5' belly mower, so you're in the ballpark. If the tractor is mechanically sound and you do the required maintenance, you'll be able to get your money back out of it with no problem at all, should you decide to sell it. Based on personal experience, that's unlikely--they're a wonderful little tractor and a marvel of 50-year-old engineering. Be warned however--ownership of a Cub is often the first symptom of the dreaded disease "farmallitis"--a swelling of your Farmall collection, accompanied by a shrinkage of both your wallet and your garage space!
