The bracket was for the steerable cult. When the corn was planted with a check wire the first rows on the end when crossing were staggered somewhat due to the planter operater abality to set the check wire good without getting the wire streched. This made crossing the corn tricky as the first few rows were not lined up good. You would have to have been there and done that to realy understand the procedure. BY having the cult hooked that way helped keep on the row also helped somewhat on a side hill.
