Haas: When I was a kid in school, about 2 miles from our farm was the village, about 150 homes and the usual 3 stores, 2 gas stations, bank, post office, schools, couple of churches, hospital, etc. the snow in that village other than the roads was plowed by about 4 guys with tractors, 2 Super A with front blades, a Super C with front blade and a Massey with blade on loader. One of the old timers past times was going to the general store to marvel how much of the snow around town was moved by those Super A's. consences was that Super A's moved 80% of snow. I think the guys with the Super A's were smarter operators. These guys had no cabs, used to bundle up and plow until the job was done. My dad who had a H, 300 and 130 used to say I guess we have our snow blade on wrong tractor. We always plowed with H or later 300. Today if you drive into that same village, you see about a dozen 4x4 pickups, couple of skid steers and a payloader, doing the same job. Granted the homes have probably doubled. These guys today plow snow for an hour and then you see them all at the coffee shop for 2 hours, hashing over how difficult the job of plowing snow is, or patting themselves on the back for what a fine job they are doing. One cant help but chuckle at the progress in time.
