Sounds like it is pretty promising that you will get tractor going. Probably made the right call by getting new tires. Won't have the hassle of messing with used ones in between time. Oil/temp guages either work or they don't. If they work there is no need to replace them. Tractor only has to be run for seconds to see if the oil pressure guage works. 5 or 10 seconds of running shouldn't hurt bearings to bad even if you had no oil pressure. As for the temp guage, you should be able to see if it is working after 5 to 10 minutes of running time. If tractor is at idle, it will take much longer than that for it to overheat. Should be able to see if guage works before tractor overheats. Just make sure the guage needles are to the far left when you start and not stuck in one position halfway up the guage. Then if the guage functions you know that the needles have moved and are not stuck.
