Mike, Lucky guess on my part - but the odds were probably on my side. Don't know how far you want to go with the conversion, but even with just the battery change, I'd stick in 3 to 4 ohms worth of 25 watt ballast resistor between the coil and the harness wire (not the one that runs to the distributor) if you intend to leave it at 12 for any length of time. If it's one of the original coils - those things seem few and far between. Would be a shame to fry it. Add the resistor(s) so you get as close to 6 volts running to the coil as possible. Like Ray and Bill have said, don't run the starter too long. The generator doesn't care - all he knows is making electricity. His brains, the voltage regulator, probably won't get hurt by a 12 volt batt; but won't charge your battery, either. So if you're staying with 12, you'll need to find a new voltage regulator - or charge the battery with an external charger or tender every so often. Good luck with your H. Steve
