Padge: This entire questions hinges on what you plan to do with the tractor. A cub will do a decent job of mowing, light cultivating, light plowing/levelling, etc., but lacks the horsepower or weight (read: traction) for "serious" jobs such as heavy disking or the like. I use my cub to mow my 2 acre lawn, and love it, but it's not the right tractor for a 50 acre field. If you're planning on doing stuff similar to the above, the cub is a wonderful, nearly bulletproof tractor with excellent reliability, parts availibility and lots of tech support, both on these boards and elsewhere. It also has good collector value--cubs routinely bring 5x what they cost new if they're in decent shape. Don't worry about jumping the battery with a 12-volt charger. Provided it wasn't kept on for a long period of time, it won't have hurt a thing. Even if it did, the repairs are simple and reasonably inexpensive. The asking price is QUITE reasonable, particularly with the implements. You could sell this tractor tomorrow and put a few bucks in your pocket, or keep it and enjoy it for years.
