If you want to go ahead with this project in my opinion your best bet would be to find low drum picker. That way you would have all the parts needed to change direction of travel on high drum and the parts removed from high drum would be all you need to convert low drum tractor to foward travel. I feel sure you know that the picker tractors do not have PTO but used ones are not hard to find. Also I have heard several people express interest in buying complete picker in good restorable condition. Just my 2 cents.
