Thanks for the info on the parts. I have several 6 volt alternators in use, on antique cars. I have the positive ground units, so as to keep the electrical system all the same. I personally dont have a problem with 6 volt starting. If the starter is good, and the cables are the proper size for 6 volts, then they work fine. Remember if you convert to negative ground, you must change the polarity of the coil, or it will overheat, and not have full output. Here is a picture of the ford stuff.
