When I was young we had a 55 baler. The way to tell a 55 from a 56,57 is that the fly wheel is on the opposite(pick up) side of the 56,57. The 55 fly wheel was on the wheel side and made that side very heavy. Had to have a dual wheel in soft ground. The knotters on the 55 gave a lot of trouble. the plunger slid on blocks of wood. It was powered by a farmall A engine. Despite all this , my dad said that it was a big improvement over the model 50 that they had before. He did some custom baling and towed it all over with our famall H.
