As for lifting the engine off the chassis, I took the head off first and replaced two of the studs with bolts. A couple of heavy washers over the bolts, pass the bolts through your chain and thread them into the block. Hoist by the chain. For the engine stand, I can't remember the thread (1/2" coarse sticks in my head, but I may be wrong) check your parts book for the thread on the four bolts that hold the crank case to the torque tube. You're going to bolt it to the stand with the same holes (after you get the flywheel off). Just measure for length. Too long is as much a pain as too short, especially if you have to get athletic with the sleeves and other stuck stuff.
