Back when we were farming with Hs and Ms we would occasionaly have one that would have problem with rust in tank. The best solution we found was to remove fuel bowl and rig up a standpipe to bowl inlet (can't remember exactly how we did this) this would raise fuel inlet an inch or so above bottom of tank.
