IH started making the 656 in 1965,the same time the rest of there there line was still the 06 series IE, 706,806,1206. At that time all Farmall models had side panels that said "Farmall". By late 1967 the tractor line was switched to the 56 series, IE 656,756,856,1256. All 56 series Farmall or International models had "International" on the side panels. Hence, you will find early model 655 farmalls with "farmall" side panels and later model 656 farmalls with "International" on the side panels. Look on your serial number tag. An International model will say I656 and Farmall model will say F656. Also go to the photos on this site and do a search for 656 look at the year of the tractors and look at the side panels.
