I do not see anything on high speed gear. Pilot bearing shows a change at sn 72452. The Farmall Letter Tractor Series book has a paragraph on page 100 that says the 6 series and M were modified to carry disc brakes as a special attachment in 1942. Does not say they were installed at factory though. Like most things on early IH history there is probaly contradictory statements from other sources. Did not mean my earlier post to sound like I was an IH expert just passing on what I had read. Don't know if the brakes in book are the ones made by Lambert the part numbers look like IH numbers for example disc 358 743 R1 and housing 358 740 R1.
