I had to go to the case dealer today, I asked him how they used to service the gaskets. He said that they would soak them in oil. This provided lubrication for the gasket. As previously mentioned, this gasket (on crank seal) will be soaked with oil anyway. He also said that the felt gaskets on the wheel hubs were different. Those gaskets are to keep out dirt and not be soaked with oil. Just thought I'd share another opinion.
