Brian, I have always had good luck with using the heavier assembly lubes on the cam & followers, rocker arms, etc., especially if the engine is not going to be started right after rebuild. Otherwise, I use a good grade of motor oil for assembly and then pressure-prime the system using a "pig", just before initial start-up. A Chapin style garden sprayer can be easily modifed and connected to a gauge or other pressurized oil port in the block. I usually feed 2 to 3 quarts of oil into the system this way before starting. Just be sure that everything is perfectly clean - sprayer, hose, fittings, oil, etc. before you start. I bought a new sprayer for less than $20. just for this purpose. Insures a good start and considering what rebuilds cost today, it is cheap insurance. Good Luck! Scott
